Headaches

Unfortunately headaches play a part in most people’s lives at some point.  Although sometimes difficult to describe, some common symptoms include throbbing, squeezing, constant, unrelenting, or intermittent pain. The location may be in one part of the face or skull, or may be generalised, involving the whole head.

I’m always surprised at how readily people accept the regularity of their headaches, and the amount of pain killers people are happy to take to address the pain. Treatment from an osteopath may well help.

Treatment for Headaches in Bracknell

Headaches and upper back pain

Gentle massage into the tight muscles and manipulation to loosen the joints of the neck and  upper back can relieve the build-up of muscular tension that may lead to headaches. Osteopaths can also advise on exercise and lifestyle changes and offer guidance on simple changes to your posture when at work or driving which may help.

You’d be surprised at how effective manual therapy can by with certain types of headache and how very small changes in routine can impact on the severity and frequency in headaches

You should seek GP guidance for new onset of headaches (particularly after head trauma) or if headaches are associated with fever, stiff neck and weakness, change in sensation on one side of the body, change in vision, or vomiting
